Peak Giving – Double your donations to support local families!
United Way of the Yampa Valley teams up with Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation for Peak Giving, a special $20,000 match fundraising event where donations go twice as far to support local programs in education, financial stability, and community health.
Kicking off in December, this event embodies the spirit of giving by rallying the community and visitors to make a lasting impact while enjoying the winter season. Thanks to the generosity of donors and sponsors, Peak Giving helps strengthen vital resources across the Yampa Valley, proving that together, we can build a brighter future—on and off the slopes!
Thanks to everyone who gave this season!

The Peak Giving Machine
The Peak Giving Machine is an innovative and engaging way to support local nonprofits across Routt, Moffat, and Rio Blanco counties. Inspired by the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and its well-known Giving Machines, this program transforms everyday giving into a tangible, interactive experience—making it easy for residents and visitors alike to support the causes that matter most in our community.
We are especially grateful to local leaders and organizers connected to the Giving Machine initiative for their willingness to share insights and inspiration as we bring this model to life in the Yampa Valley.
Located in high-traffic areas throughout the year, the Peak Giving Machine allows donors to “purchase” meaningful items such as food, childcare support, baby essentials, educational resources, and more. Each selection directly supports a local nonprofit partner serving individuals and families across our region.
HOW IT WORKS
Using the machine is simple and impactful:
- Select a cause or item you would like to support
- Make a donation using a credit or debit card
- Receive a token of appreciation
- Know your gift is directly supporting a local nonprofit
Every contribution—no matter the size—helps strengthen households, support working families, and ensure our community remains resilient and connected.
LOCAL IMPACT
The Peak Giving Machine is already making a difference.
- $32,000+ raised during its placement at the Steamboat Ski Resort
- Dozens of nonprofits supported across three counties
- Hundreds of individual donations from locals and visitors
These funds directly support critical needs such as food access, childcare, healthcare, youth development, and services for older adults—especially for ALICE households navigating rising costs of living.
WHY IT MATTERS
In our region, many working families are doing everything right and still struggling to afford basic needs. The Peak Giving Machine meets people where they are, offering a simple, dignified way to give while directly supporting neighbors in need.
Together, we are creating a more connected, generous, and resilient Yampa Valley—one gift at a time.
