Routt County United Way (RCUW) advances the common good in Routt County by providing access to education, financial stability, and health. We focus on three goals to make the greatest impact in our community: early childhood education, youth success, and financial stability. We mobilize change by uniting people, ideas, and resources that play a critical role in creating positive results in Routt County. In 2020, we did all that and more.
When called upon in the early months of 2020, RCUW jumped into action to provide access to resources to those and need. In a time of crisis, it was obvious that our collaborative effort towards a single COVID-19 Relief Fund would serve our population of 24,000 best. We partnered with our friends at the Yampa Valley Community Foundation to guide the grant committee through questions to determine where our communal support was needed most. We combined our health and human service expertise with the Yampa Valley Community Foundation and neighbor Moffat County United Way to ensure every donation was allocated to local organizations making the greatest impact in our community.
Fast forward to our grant cycle in mid 2020, where we allocated $356,000 to 30 local agencies and programs making an impact in early childhood education, youth success, and financial stability. And our impact didn’t end there.
88% of Revenue Invested Back in Routt County
We invested $583,687, the equivalent of 88% of our total revenue, in Routt County in 2020 split between grants and programs. We partnered with our impact partners, such as LiftUp and Routt County Council on aging to deliver food boxes to individuals in need. We distributed over 5,000 complimentary masks with our partner Big Agnes, and hosted a to-go style Thanksgiving Dinner with the support of 16 local businesses. And thanks to the generosity in our community, we subsidized $16,250 in food expense by distributing $25 grocery store gift cards to our local agencies, who allocated them to 650 clients in need.
RCUW is a community builder, leader, unifier, and champion. We are grateful for more than 1,100 donors who contributed to our mission in 2020 and made our impact go further than ever before.
