We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Joe Haines as our new Executive Director, effective July 15th, 2024. Haines brings over three decades of invaluable experience in non-profit leadership, fundraising, and partnership development.

Haines’s extensive background includes serving as Executive Director and former Board President of Caring Connection, where he honed his skills in organizational operations and fundraising. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a remarkable ability to develop and implement effective fundraising strategies, leading to significant revenue growth for the organizations he has served. Notably, during his tenure at Yampatika, he successfully doubled the organization’s budget over five years.

Moreover, Haines possesses firsthand experience with workplace-giving organizations, having served as a board member and President of Caring Connection. His expertise in managing all aspects of workplace giving, combined with his leadership in partnerships and non-profit development, positions him as an ideal candidate to lead us into our next phase of growth and impact.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Haines has been an active member of the Yampa Valley community since 2016, cultivating strong relationships with non-profit leaders and the business community alike. His involvement in various leadership roles, including serving on the Rural Leadership Committee for the Northwest region of the Rural Philanthropy Days program, underscores his commitment to fostering collaboration and driving positive change within our community.

Kate Nowak, our current Executive Director, will remain in her position until August 31st, during this time she will work closely with Haines to ensure a smooth transition. Nowak’s dedication and leadership have been instrumental in advancing our mission. We extend our deepest gratitude for her service.

Commenting on his appointment, Haines expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity to join United Way of the Yampa Valley, stating, “I am excited to join a wonderful team at United Way of the Yampa Valley. It’s such an important organization for NW Colorado. I look forward to working with such dedicated staff, board, volunteers, donors, and other stakeholders to grow our impact in our communities across the region.” Haines added, “Kate has done such a wonderful job leading this organization.
